Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. She was appointed chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist and host of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on a variety of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal, budget tax reforms as well as arms control. Mitchell traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions to summits and debate matters including that of the Iran Contra controversy.
